Acoustic art by women* as spatial appropriation: The performance by sound artist and architect Nathalie Brum and performer/choreographer Marje Hirvonen dissolves rigid boundaries. Moving fluidly between distance and proximity, everyday life and art, urban space and stage, the work meanders from Aachen’s city center into the cellar vaults of Galerie Auge & Welt and back into the urban environment.
The urban performance features Hirvonen’s striking visual presence paired with Brum’s portable sound setup. Inside the gallery, a four-channel sound system envelops the cellar space. For one evening, the two performers appear throughout the cityscape, blending into the crowd, improvising choreographically and sonically, culminating in a live concert at Galerie Auge & Welt with artist Tim Berresheim. Chance audiences in the public space encounter an immersive acoustic performance art experience.
